Dr Max's hospitality industry secret about the 80th Anniversary of the world's second oldest airline

QANTAS is the world's second oldest airline and was founded in 1920. (Anyone know which is the world's oldest airline?) Hence 2000 is its 80th year of operation. (Surely an occasion worth celebrating!) QANTAS is the tenth largest airline in the world and is the largest in Australia. If you remember the movie 'Rainman' you'll recall Dustin Hoffman telling that QANTAS was the world's safest airline.

QANTAS carried over 10.1m domestic and 6.6m international passengers in 1998/99, with a fleet of 140 aircraft. QANTAS has codeshare arrangements with 18 airline partners to increase the range of choices available to customers, including British Airways, which has a 25% interest in the Airline. It also owns a number of distribution and holiday/tour businesses. QAN and its wholly owned regional carriers Airlink, Eastern Australia Airlines, Southern Australia Airlines, and Sunstate, operate about 4,200 flights per week to 56 Australian and 64 overseas destinations. In 1998, QANTAS joined British Airways, American Airlines, Canadian Airlines and Cathay Pacific in the oneworld alliance.
